Orientation Information

Our goal is to offer you a spiritually fulfilling weekend at St. Leo Abbey Retreat Center. To ensure that each attendee has the opportunity to enhance their spiritual experience, we have established some specific guidelines. We encourage everyone to read the following orientation updates as well as our retreat rules.

Religious Services

At this time, the Abbey is not offering a mass during the retreat. However, Father David is available to hear confession.

The Monks

Our hosts for the weekend are the Benedictine Monks of St. Leo Abbey. Some monks are priests and others are not; all are “brothers.” You will have an opportunity to meet and share with many of them. Sometimes you will see them in their traditional black or white habits (depending on the time of the year), other times in jeans and sneakers. You will find them to be regular people who have responded to a special Calling. Part of the Calling is to provide a retreat center so people like us can continue to heal and grow. We hope they will become as special in your life as they have in ours. When a monk has his habit over his head, he must remain silent and is not allowed to speak.
